What does a vulva lift involve?
The vulva lift focuses on reducing skin laxity and restoring a more youthful appearance of the vulva. The treatment can be carried out surgically or with non-invasive techniques, depending on the degree of skin laxity and the patient's wishes. Many women choose this treatment to improve the appearance of the vulva, but also to reduce discomfort during sport, when wearing clothing or during sexual activity.
The procedure can be performed on its own or combined with other intimate treatments, such as vaginal tightening or labiaplasty, for a more comprehensive result.
The surgical vulva lift
In a surgical vulva lift, the doctor removes excess skin and tightens the surrounding tissues. The procedure is usually performed under local or general anaesthetic. The surgeon makes small incisions to remove excess tissue and reshape the vulva. This results in a tighter and more symmetrical appearance.
The procedure takes on average 1 to 2 hours and can be performed as an outpatient procedure. After the operation the patient may experience mild swelling or discomfort, but this usually disappears within a few weeks. The recovery process requires some care, such as avoiding strenuous physical activity and wearing loose, breathable clothing to minimise friction.
Non-invasive options
For women who do not want a surgical procedure, non-invasive alternatives are available. These use technologies such as radiofrequency, laser therapy or ultrasound to stimulate collagen production and firm the skin of the vulva. These treatments cause hardly any pain, require no downtime and are often carried out in several sessions to achieve optimal results.
Non-invasive vulva lifts are suitable for mild skin laxity and are particularly popular because of their convenience and quick recovery time.
Results
The results of a vulva lift can vary depending on the technique chosen. With surgical procedures the results are generally long-lasting, while non-invasive treatments may need to be repeated periodically to maintain the effect. The benefits of a vulva lift include:
- A tighter, more youthful appearance of the vulva.
- Reduced discomfort during daily activities, such as sport or wearing tight clothing.
- Increased self-confidence, especially in intimate situations.
With surgical options the results are visible immediately after healing, while non-invasive treatments take effect gradually after several sessions.
Please note: Kliniek het Bolwerk does not carry out this treatment
A vulva lift is a specialised intimate treatment that can consist of surgical or non-invasive techniques and is performed by specially trained doctors in specialised clinics or hospitals. Kliniek het Bolwerk does not perform vulva lift treatments. Through our knowledge base we do offer informative and objective explanations about intimate treatments, so you can make a well-informed choice.
If you are considering a vulva lift, we advise you to contact a clinic or doctor specialising in intimate and gynaecological aesthetic care.
Recovery and aftercare
Recovery after a vulva lift depends on the technique used. After a surgical procedure the recovery time is generally a few weeks, during which activities such as intensive sport or sexual contact are discouraged. Non-invasive treatments require no recovery period, and the patient can resume her daily routine immediately after the treatment.
Good hygiene and following the instructions of the treating doctor are essential for a smooth recovery process and optimal results. Patients are also advised to temporarily avoid direct exposure to heat or heavy physical exertion.
