What is Radiesse?

What does this term mean?

Definitie

Radiesse is an injectable filler that adds volume immediately and at the same time stimulates the production of collagen in the skin. This creates a firming and long-lasting effect.

Uitgebreide uitleg

What makes Radiesse different from other fillers?

Radiesse differs from traditional hyaluronic acid fillers in that it does not only fill, but also improves the skin structure over time. The product contains calcium hydroxylapatite, a substance that stimulates the body to produce new collagen.

Immediately after the treatment you see more volume and contour. In the months that follow, the skin gradually becomes firmer and fuller because of this collagen production. This gives a natural-looking and longer-lasting result.

What is Radiesse used for?

Radiesse is often used to restore volume loss and firm the skin. Common treatment areas are:

  • cheeks and cheekbones
  • Jawline
  • chin
  • nasolabial fold

Radiesse is also sometimes used to improve the skin, for example when the skin has become lax.

How does a Radiesse treatment work?

During the treatment, Radiesse is injected into the skin with a fine needle or cannula. The technique and depth depend on the treatment area and the desired result.

The treatment usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. A numbing cream is often used to increase comfort.

After the treatment, the effect is visible immediately because of the added volume. In the weeks and months that follow, the skin improves further as the body produces collagen.

How long does the result last?

The result of Radiesse is relatively long-lasting. On average the effect remains visible for 12 to 18 months, depending on the treated area and your skin type.

The collagen-stimulating effect can mean that skin quality also improves in the longer term.

Are there any risks or side effects?

As with any injection treatment, side effects can occur. The most common are mild swelling, redness or a bruise at the injection site.

Because Radiesse is placed deeper in the skin and has a different composition from standard fillers, it is important that the treatment is performed by an experienced doctor with knowledge of the right technique.

Who is Radiesse suitable for?

Radiesse may be suitable if you are bothered by volume loss or skin laxity and are looking for a long-lasting solution.

If you want not only to restore volume but also to improve the quality of your skin, a collagen-stimulating treatment can also be considered.

A consultation with a doctor is always needed to determine whether this treatment suits your wishes and situation.
