BBL revision

What does this term mean?

Definitie

A BBL revision, in other words a Brazilian Butt Lift repair, is a procedure intended to correct or improve the results of an earlier BBL. In a Brazilian Butt Lift, fat from other parts of the body, such as the abdomen or thighs, is transferred to the buttocks to create volume and contours. Sometimes the result may not meet expectations because of complications such as uneven fat loss, asymmetry or irregular texture. A revision procedure offers the opportunity to address these problems and achieve a more harmonious and natural result.

Please note: Kliniek het Bolwerk does not carry out this treatment

Kliniek het Bolwerk does not perform BBL revisions. Corrections or repeat operations after a Brazilian Butt Lift fall under specialist plastic surgery care and are not offered at our clinic.

The information in this article is intended as a general explanation within our knowledge base. With it we give insight into what a BBL revision involves and when it is considered. For assessment or treatment, we advise you to contact a specialised plastic surgeon.

What does a BBL revision involve?

During a revision procedure, the plastic surgeon can remove, add or redistribute fat to correct the original result. This is often done in patients who experience asymmetry, have a bumpy skin texture or have retained insufficient fat after the first treatment. Sometimes fat can be harvested from other parts of the body through liposuction to be reinjected into the buttocks. In other cases excess fat is removed from the treated area to create a more natural appearance.

The procedure is fully personalised and adapted to the unique needs of the patient. This makes it possible to make subtle corrections or to carry out a more extensive revision, depending on the extent of the problem.

Who is a BBL revision suitable for?

A BBL revision is intended for people who are dissatisfied with the results of an earlier Brazilian Butt Lift. This can range from uneven contours to a lack of volume due to insufficient fat survival. Patients bothered by irregularities, such as a bumpy texture or an unnatural appearance, can also benefit from a revision. In addition, the procedure is often recommended for people who have sufficient fat reserves in other parts of their body, because additional fat grafting may be needed.

What is recovery like after a BBL revision?

The recovery process after a BBL revision is similar to that of a first BBL procedure. Patients are advised to avoid direct pressure on the buttocks in the first weeks after the treatment to promote fat survival. Compression garments are usually prescribed to support the contours and reduce swelling. Most patients can resume light daily activities after a few weeks, but it can take several months before the final result is visible, because the body needs time to heal fully.

Results and possible risks

The results of a BBL revision can be impressive and provide a more symmetrical, natural and aesthetic silhouette. Still, there are risks involved, such as swelling, bruising or irregular fat survival. It is important to choose an experienced plastic surgeon to minimise the chance of complications and achieve an optimal result.

A revision can be a drastic but effective way to address dissatisfaction with an earlier Brazilian Butt Lift and to regain confidence in your appearance.
